My First Custom Map for Doom II – A Learning Experiment


I'm not sure if I'll keep developing this map, but I wanted to share it as it is.
This is my first attempt at designing a custom map for Doom II, made with a lot of enthusiasm and many hours of trial and error using Ultimate Doom Builder.

The main goal was to learn the full workflow — from building basic geometry to fine-tuning details, playing with lighting, designing combat zones, and understanding how it feels to move through a space I created myself.

 What I Tried to Achieve

  • A claustrophobic, industrial, oppressive atmosphere

  • A gameplay flow mixing exploration with bursts of intense combat

  • Spaces that feel logical but still unpredictable
